Rey Cruz, born on May 4, 1960, in Guayama, Puerto Rico, passed away on April 19, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived a life filled with passion and joy, particularly for congas and salsa music, which he embraced wholeheartedly. Rey’s love for music was a defining aspect of his identity, and he shared this vibrant passion with those around him.

His engaging spirit and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on friends and acquaintances alike. Rey's enthusiasm for the rhythms of salsa not only connected him to his cultural roots but also served as a bridge to many cherished relationships throughout his life.

Family and friends are invited to commemorate Rey's life during the visitation services on April 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on April 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Both visitation events will be held at Compagnola Funeral Home, located at 4405-07 North 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19140. Following these services, Rey will be laid to rest at Greenmount Cemetery, with a burial ceremony scheduled for April 25, 2025, at 11:30 AM.
